Aretha Franklin - Love All The Hurt Away (1981)

Artist:  Aretha Franklin
Title:  Love All The Hurt Away
Release:  1981
Format:  LP
Label:  Arista Records
Catalog#  203913

The first track, the ballad “Love All The Hurt Away” is a nice duet between Franklin and George Benson, is sensitive and the two artists do well together. There are three covers (Sam & Dave’s “Hold On, I’m Comin’, The Rolling Stones’ “You Can’t Always Get Want You Want,” and Diana Ross’s “It’s My Turn”) which go to show that Aretha, like Luther Vandross, can take another’s song and make it uniquely hers. “Living the Streets” and “There’s a Star for Everyone” are also two noteworthy selections.
